A woman who met her husband on Tinder when she was 18 and he was 40 has received messages saying their relationship is “fake”. Sav and Mark, from Sydney, Australia, regularly post on TikTok about their 22-year age difference relationship.
The couple, who have been together for five years, often joke about the difference between their generations on the app. They were married in an intimate ceremony at home with close family and friends, reports the Daily Star.
In a clip on TikTok, Sav reflected on meeting Mark at the age of 18 when she was “thinking [she] would die a virgin.” The TikToker then shows footage of her husband sipping a cup of coffee and comments, “This 40-year-old MF who matches me on Tinder.”

The video was uploaded with the caption “Don’t be mad” and the hashtags #daddy and #agegaplove – and the post has met with mixed reactions. The clip has so far received 2.1 million likes and over 13,000 comments on the app.
One user commented, “I’m not into older guys myself, but what you see in him specifically is oh my gosh.” Another user commented: “Normalize [sic] Age differences, unless one of them is a minor. As simple as that.”
Another user wrote, “I don’t understand how people are so pushy for a good relationship… My parents are 25 years apart and together almost 30 years.”
But other users of the app did not support the relationship. One user commented below the video: “My daughter is almost 18 that’s a hard HELL NO.” Another user wrote: “I’m in my late 30’s and it’s not normal for a man in his 40’s to lust after young girls. Point.”
“This shouldn’t be legal,” wrote another TikTok user. Someone else said, “Talk to us again a few years after it’s over, Luv. This realization. It killed me.” But when he hit back at the comment, Sav replied, “Five years later … married and in love with him, hon cheers though.”
But Sav and Mark aren’t the only couple on TikTok with an age gap of over 20 years. TikTok users Alexander (24) and Rachel (47) have exactly the same age difference at 22 years old.
Alexander describes Rachel as his “soul mate” and the couple said they have been together for more than a year. Some TikTok users have supported the couple’s relationship with one writing: “Damn bro you did well! RESPECT!” Others, however, have scoffed that he is “after their life insurance.”
