Thousands of Nigerian micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) are expected to benefit from the free entrepreneurship program offered by the Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) Plc.
The free entrepreneurship training is part of the Bank’s effort to fulfill its core mandate of building the capacity of small businesses so they can formalize and scale.
This will essentially address the challenges some of them face in accessing finance for their businesses.
The training will be delivered on the DBN Learning Management System (LMS), a free learning portal with carefully curated self-paced courses open to all Nigerian MSMEs interested in gaining the right knowledge needed for business success.
Speaking on the free DBN Learning Program for MSMEs, DBN Managing Director Anthony Okpanachi said: “As part of our plans to increase our catalytic role in the Nigerian economy, we are expanding our reach to MSMEs and inviting interested micro, small and medium-sized enterprises a scale business to take advantage of our free entrepreneurship training program and improve their skills. As a result, DBN invests a lot of resources to further the acquisition of skills in the different aspects of running and maintaining a successful business in all sectors.”
“I am confident that MSMEs who take advantage of this opportunity will acquire important business skills that will pave the way for increased revenue, capacity, increased innovation and self-reliance, and most importantly, improved ability to access finance for their businesses.” he added.
By the end of the online training session on September 23, 200 companies would be selected for a physical session taking place in Lagos and Abuja on October 17-21, 2022.
It offers companies the opportunity to practically learn important principles from online training courses and to apply them to their various companies. They also have the opportunity to network and sell their ideas with colleagues.
Additionally, companies/participants are eligible to pitch their business ideas/value propositions to a carefully selected panel of experts and successful pitches will be selected to receive grants to boost their entrepreneurship journey.
