JAKARTA (ANTARA) — The Ministry of Communications and Informatics will host an entrepreneurship training course for women – the Women in Digital Entrepreneurship (WiDE) – as part of efforts to recover the economy hit by the pandemic.
“In line with discussions at the Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) meeting in the G20 agenda, digital skills and competences are important issues to increase the participation of vulnerable groups,” said Hary Budiarto, head of the research and development agency for Human Resources of the Ministry , noted here on Monday.
Budiarto explained that the Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) program has been able to fill the digital capability gaps, especially during the country’s recovery period from the pandemic.
This training aims to improve skills and increase the competitiveness of information technology in human resources to support digital transformation and realize a strong, sustainable and inclusive Indonesia, he added.
Through this event, he emphasized that the government is very interested in micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) becoming part of the digital transformation process.
“They must not be left behind in discussions about digital transformation. Through the Digital Entrepreneurship Academy (DEA), which is part of the DTS program, the ministry will strive to encourage women to become the center of economic recovery,” explained Budiarto.
He drew attention to several digital inequalities between men and women.

Femmy Eka Kartika, Deputy Coordinator for Improving the Quality of Children, Women and Youth at the Coordinating Ministry of Human Development and Culture (PMK), noted that women’s participation in the MSME sector is very high, but they face challenges in access to digital knowledge and funding.
To this end, Kartika stressed that the government is aware of the importance of entrepreneurship and MSMEs as the backbone of the economy.
Women in Digital Entrepreneurship (WiDE): #RecoverTogether with Digital Entrepreneurship takes place on Thursday 21 April and is open to Indonesian female entrepreneurs aged 15-35. Registration is open from April 3rd to April 19th on the website https://komin.fo/kartini.
