The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) organized the “Basic Entrepreneurship Training” program for women entrepreneurs who own small businesses to strengthen the culture of entrepreneurship in South Africa and Lesotho.

TİKA and the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ICOC) affiliated Commercialization Center of Istanbul (BTM) conducted the first phase of the training program in Durban, South Africa and the second phase in Maseru, the capital of the Kingdom of Lesotho, which is completely surrounded by South Africa, from March 28 to April 1, 2022.

In these two countries, a total of 37 women entrepreneurs from different industries received theoretical training on business plan development, networking and innovative business approach, as well as applied training on sample business plan review, business idea presentation and effective communication.

The program motivated the entrepreneurs to diversify and increase their business volume through their existing business methods by increasing the capacities of their companies, and informed them about the current developments in the global entrepreneurship ecosystem and the measures to be taken according to the current requirements .

Speaking at the opening session of the program in Lesotho, Minister of Small Business Development, Cooperatives and Marketing of Lesotho, Machesetsa Mofomobe, stated that he was satisfied with such entrepreneurship training for women who find themselves in a disadvantaged position in the economy and that he hoped that such partnerships would continue.

Attended by people who have a new business idea but don’t know the way, as well as small business owners who want to grow their business, the entrepreneurship training programs aim to contribute to the expansion of the entrepreneurship ecosystem and support the development of the economies of the partner countries.

After the basic and advanced entrepreneurship programs, incubation and business development centers will be set up in the countries where the project will be implemented.
